Teenage Depression (album)
Teenage Depression is the debut studio album by English rock band Eddie and the Hot Rods, released on 22 November 1976. It was recorded at Jackson Studio in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire. The album blends pub rock and punk rock and lasts 31:26 (a 2000 reissue runs 1:13:41). It was produced by Ed Hollis and Vic Maile and mixed by Jonz:A and R Howard Thomson. The single "Teenage Depression" / "Shake" came out on 29 October 1976. The album reached number 43 on the UK Albums Chart, while the title track reached number 35 on the UK Singles Chart and was featured in the 1979 film Rock ’n’ Roll High School. It includes three cover songs: The Who’s "The Kids Are Alright", Joe Tex’s "Show Me", and Sam Cooke’s "Shake". The record is seen as a bridge between pub rock and punk because of its fast, hard-hitting R&B-influenced sound and punk attitude. A 2000 reissue added 12 extra tracks. All songs were written by Dave Higgs, except where noted.
