RSI Rete Tre is the third Italian-language radio station from RSI, aimed at younger listeners with popular and alternative music. It started broadcasting at 00:03 on 1 January 1988 and is available on DAB+, IPTV, satellite and the Internet. To mark its 20th anniversary, a celebration took place in Lugano starting at 00:03 on 1 January 2008, featuring a special song "We Are Rete Tre" (a cover of "We Are the World"). That year there was also a large anniversary demonstration in Lugano. At Radioday 2010, RSI Rete Tre was named Swiss Radio of the Year, an award it had previously won in 2008. As of 1 January 2025, FM transmissions have been permanently discontinued. Previously, the FM network mainly covered the Italian-speaking cantons of Ticino and Graubünden.
