Mostra de València
Mostra de València-Cinema del Mediterrani is Valencia’s annual film festival. It began in 1980 in Valencia, Spain. In 2011, Valencia’s mayor Rita Barberá suspended the festival as an austerity measure until the economy recovered. In 2013, while the festival was paused, an alternative event called Mostra Viva del Mediterrani was created. The festival was revived in 2018 by the city’s government led by Mayor Joan Ribó. For its 36th edition in 2021, it received FIAPF accreditation as a competitive festival focused on Mediterranean cinema. The 39th edition ended early in 2024 due to floods in the Valencia region.
