Monochaetia
Monochaetia is a genus of fungi in the family Sporocadaceae. Species within this genus are typically plant parasites or saprobes and can cause leaf spot diseases on a range of hosts.

Historical notes:
- The genus was introduced by Allescher in 1902, originally with 23 species.
- Allescher designated Monochaetia monochaeta as the type species.
- In 1949, Steyaert moved many Monochaetia species to Pestalotiopsis or Truncatella.
- A 1961 monograph by Guba recognized more than 40 species in Monochaetia.
- Index Fungorum lists 127 Monochaetia epithets as of March 2022, but most have been transferred to other genera such as Sarcostroma, Seimatosporium, and Seiridium.
- Today, according to Species Fungorum, many Monochaetia species have been reclassified into other genera.
