Dhammiya
Dhammiyya was a Ghulat (extreme) sect within Shia Islam, active around 800 CE. They were also called Ulyaniyya or Alya’iyya, named after Ali ibn Dhira' as-Sadusi (or ad-Dawsi, or al-Asdi). They believed that Ali was God and Muhammad was his appointed Prophet. They taught that Muhammad, while acting as Ali’s prophet and acknowledging him as God, urged people to worship Allah and deceived them into thinking Allah was God instead of Ali. They considered Muhammad sinful for this and deserving blame, which is where the name Dhammiyya (blamers) comes from. They also believed Fatima, Muhammad’s daughter, was male.
