Mohammad Jashimuddin (politician)
Mohammad Jashimuddin is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and a retired Bangladesh Army major. He served as Member of Parliament for Bhola-3 from 29 December 2008 to 18 October 2009. He was elected in the 2008 general election. His rival, Hafizuddin Ahmed of the BNP, challenged the result, but the High Court ruled against him because Jashimuddin had been forcibly retired from the Army on 31 August 2004. Under Bangladeshi law, government employees who are forcibly retired cannot contest elections within five years. A by-election for Bhola-3 was later held and won by Nurunnabi Chowdhury of the Awami League.
