Diaw came through the Paris Saint-Germain youth system (2007–2015) and made one senior appearance for PSG in a friendly on 8 July 2014. After leaving PSG in 2015, he joined Mafra in Portugal, then Lokomotiv Plovdiv in Bulgaria in 2017. In 2019 he moved to FC United Zürich in Switzerland, then joined Lausanne-Sport, where he played until 2022. He returned to France to sign for Clermont on a two-year contract in 2022, with a loan spell at Rodez in 2025. On 12 July 2025, he signed with Le Havre.

Internationally, Diaw debuted for Senegal on 21 June 2023 in a 4–2 friendly win over Brazil. In December 2023, he was named in Senegal’s squad for the postponed Africa Cup of Nations held in the Ivory Coast, a tournament Senegal won in 2025, earning Diaw a continental title.

Notable incidents include a firework being thrown from the crowd onto the pitch during a Ligue 1 match against Montpellier on 8 October 2023, which led to the game being abandoned. Diaw is of Senegalese descent.

During his time at PSG, Diaw was involved in a Twitter controversy over posts later explained as a hacked account; the tweets were deleted.
