120 Sports
120 Sports was an internet TV service created as a partnership between Time Inc., Silver Chalice, MLB Advanced Media, and the National Hockey League. It produced and streamed sports news and highlights for online viewers, especially young adults. It was announced on February 20, 2014 by Time Inc. as part of Sports Illustrated, with funding from MLB Advanced Media, the NHL, and Silver Chalice. At first, it focused on streaming sports news and highlights from its partners, plus the NBA and NASCAR.
The name came from the idea that many videos would be two minutes long. On June 25, 2014, 120 Sports launched a daily lineup of live studio shows. The president, Jason Coyle, said they wanted to create a daily habit so people would check in several times a day. The service aimed to appeal to millennials and hired reporters from all over the country to avoid regional bias, noted executive vice president Matt Carstens.
A morning show, 120 Morning Run, started on July 2, 2014, hosted by Laurence Holmes and Dylan McGorty.
On April 13, 2017, Silver Chalice teamed up with Sinclair Broadcast Group to merge Campus Insiders, 120 Sports, and Sinclair’s syndication service and American Sports Network into a new multi‑platform sports network called Stadium.
