Moenchia erecta

Moenchia erecta, also known as the erect or upright chickweed, is a small annual plant in the Caryophyllaceae family. It usually grows up to 10 cm tall, sometimes a bit higher. It has blue-green, waxy-looking leaves and tiny white flowers. The green sepals are longer than the white petals and are edged in white.

This plant is native to Europe and is a common weed in pastures. It has been introduced to places like Australia and western North America, but it isn’t highly invasive. It often appears in disturbed areas such as gardens, mowed fields, and similar ground.

Moenchia erecta prefers moist spots, like grassy floodplains near marshes and coastal hills. It also grows well in bare, sandy or gravelly soils, such as shorelines or overgrazed fields.
