Mike Samples
Mike Samples (born May 27, 1950 in Bonne Terre, Missouri) is a former Canadian football defensive tackle. He played 11 seasons in the Canadian Football League for three teams: BC Lions (1973), Hamilton Tiger-Cats (1974–77), and Saskatchewan Roughriders (1978–83). He was 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighed 245 pounds, and he played college football at Drake. He was drafted by the NFL in 1973 (12th round, 298th overall) but spent his career in the CFL. Samples earned CFL All-Star honors in 1982, was a CFL West All-Star in 1981 and 1982, and a CFL East All-Star in 1976. He retired as a player in August 1983 and became an assistant coach for the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
