Inner-City Muslim Action Network
Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN) is a Chicago-based nonprofit founded in 1996 by Rami Nashashibi. It aims to improve life in Chicago’s inner city, especially the South and Southwest Sides, by using Islam to empower individuals and communities. IMAN provides direct services such as the IMAN/ICIC Food Pantry, the IMAN Health Clinic, and the Career Development Initiative (ICDI). Its best-known project is “Takin’ It To The Streets,” a large festival with music, sports, and carnival activities that brings people from across the Chicago area. The organization is led by directors Rami Nashashibi, Ayat Elnoory, Asad Jafri, and M. Altaf Kaiseruddin, and it operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Chicago, Illinois.
