International School Yangon
International School Yangon (ISY) is a private, co‑educational day school in Yangon, Myanmar, serving students from age 3 (Chinthe Cubs) through Grade 12. Founded in 1955, ISY uses U.S.-based elementary and middle curricula with an IB Diploma Program in the high school. It is a nonprofit governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees, with parents automatically as members. The language of instruction is English; Mandarin, French, Spanish, and Burmese are offered as additional languages. About 450 students from 25 nationalities attend, with a nationality cap to maintain diversity. The 4-acre Golden Valley campus has five buildings, libraries, science labs, art spaces, a makerspace, two playgrounds, a gym, a swimming pool, a field, and covered basketball/volleyball courts. ISY is accredited by WASC, authorized by the IBO, and a member of EARCOS. It competes in SEASAC and also participates in local Yangon leagues (YAC, YCI). The school is led by Director Dr Greg Hedger, and its colors are gold, black and white; the mascot is the Chinthe.
