Meqemale
Meqemale (Makmalē) was a Nubian queen known only from her burial in the royal cemetery at Nuri (Nuri 40). She may have been the wife of king Aspelta, but this is uncertain. Her title, Hmt-niswt aAt, means "big king's wife" (not the usual "great king's wife"). Her burial included a pyramid with a chapel and underground burial rooms, reached by a staircase to two chambers. The tomb had been robbed, but fragments of at least 108 shabtis bearing her name and title were found, along with several vessels and an offering table. A shabti bearing her name was also found at Sanam.
