Melchor Fernández Almagro
Melchor Fernández Almagro (4 September 1893 – 22 February 1966) was a Spanish writer, historian, journalist, and literary critic. He also served as civil governor of the Balearic Islands. Born in Granada, he became a member of the Real Academia Española, taking seat D on 9 December 1951, a position he held until his death in Madrid on 22 February 1966 at age 72. He was preceded in the academy by Manuel Machado and succeeded by Torcuato Luca de Tena.
