Max Schuemann is an American baseball player who plays as an infielder and outfielder for the Oakland Athletics in Major League Baseball (MLB). He bats and throws right-handed and was born on June 11, 1997, in Portage, Michigan.

Early life and education
Schuemann attended Portage Northern High School, where he excelled in baseball, hitting .490 with 33 RBIs as a junior in 2014. After going undrafted in 2015, he played college baseball at Eastern Michigan University.

Draft and minor leagues
Oakland selected Schuemann in the 20th round of the 2018 MLB draft. He began his professional career with the Vermont Lake Monsters, batting .195 in 45 games. In 2019, he played for the Beloit Snappers, hitting .256 with 3 home runs, 35 RBIs and 25 stolen bases in 94 games. The 2020 minor league season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Schuemann spent 2021 with the Lansing Lugnuts, where he set a franchise record with five stolen bases in one game, and was promoted to the Midland RockHounds and Las Vegas Aviators during the year. Across 119 games for three teams, he hit .271 with a .372 on-base percentage, .388 slugging, 7 home runs, 42 RBIs and 52 stolen bases. In 2022, he started with Midland and moved up to Las Vegas, totaling 90 games with a .274/.403/.422 line, 9 home runs, 41 RBIs and 24 stolen bases. In 2023, he played for Midland and Las Vegas, batting .276 with 10 homers, 51 RBIs and 23 stolen bases in 116 games.

MLB career
Starting the 2024 season in Las Vegas, Schuemann was promoted to the Oakland Athletics in early April after an injury to Brent Rooker. He made his MLB debut in 2024 and has played with Oakland since. Through the 2025 season, he has a majors batting average of .212 with 9 home runs and 47 RBIs.
