Chris Hakius
Chris Louis Hakius (born December 14, 1971) is an American retired rock drummer from San Jose, California. He is best known for his work in Sleep and Om, and earlier with Asbestosdeath and The Sabians. Around 1989–1990, he joined Asbestosdeath with Al Cisneros and Matt Pike. After Asbestosdeath broke up, the trio formed Sleep, where Hakius played drums from 1990 until the band split in 1998. After Sleep, he played with The Sabians, recording two albums in 2002 and 2003 with Justin Marler. In 2003 he joined Om and played with them until January 31, 2009. His final live performances were Sleep’s 2009 ATP reunion show. He then retired from music to raise a family. His work is associated with stoner rock and doom metal.
