Carlos Manuel Pruneda (born 1973) is a Cuban singer known as Carlos Manuel. He sang with groups Mayohuacan, Carapacho, and Irakere, and later led Carlos Manuel y su Clan, a band he started in 1997. In 2001 he was Cuba’s most popular artist, his band was named best new band, and his song “Malo Cantidad” was the most listened to. After a 2003 concert in Mexico City, he went to Monterrey and then sought asylum at the US border in Brownsville, Texas.
