Brigitte Le Brethon (born 8 March 1951 in Campeaux, Calvados) is a French politician from The Republicans. A teacher by training, she studied at the University of Caen Normandy. She served as Deputy Mayor of Caen from 1983 to 2001, and then as Mayor of Caen from 24 March 2001 to 23 March 2008, becoming the city’s first woman mayor. In 2002 she was elected to the National Assembly for Calvados’s 1st constituency, serving until 2007. She lost the mayoralty in 2008 to Philippe Duron of the Socialist Party.
