Maurice Fatio
Maurice Fatio (March 18, 1897 – December 2, 1943) was a Swiss-born American architect known for his Mediterranean-style houses in Palm Beach, Florida. He was born in Geneva to a prominent family and studied at the Polytechnical School of the University of Zurich, where he learned from architect Karl Moser. In 1920 he moved to New York City, working for Harrie Lindeberg and later partnering with William A. Treanor. He was voted the most popular architect in New York in May 1923. In 1925 he opened an office in Palm Beach and designed homes in Mediterranean and other styles. He married Eleanor Chase in 1929, and they had two children, Alexandra and Maurice Pierre "Petey." Fatio died of lung cancer in Chicago in 1943 at age 46; his wife died in 1944. They are buried in the Fatio family grave in the cemetery of Genthod.
