Matthew Pettinger (born October 22, 1980) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey left winger. He played in the NHL for the Washington Capitals, Vancouver Canucks, and Tampa Bay Lightning, and later played in Germany for Kölner Haie and the Hamburg Freezers. Born in Edmonton and raised in Victoria, British Columbia, Pettinger played junior hockey for the Calgary Hitmen and the Denver Pioneers and was drafted 43rd overall by the Capitals in 2000. He spent several seasons splitting time between the Capitals and their AHL affiliate before becoming a regular in 2003-04. He also spent the 2004-05 lockout season with HDD Olimpija Ljubljana and posted a career-best 38 points in the 2005-06 season.

On February 26, 2008, the Capitals traded him to the Vancouver Canucks for Matt Cooke. He began the 2008-09 season with the Manitoba Moose, Vancouver’s AHL affiliate, and was claimed off waivers by the Tampa Bay Lightning on October 21, 2008, finishing the season with 15 points in 59 games. After a short return to the Moose in 2009, he re-signed with Vancouver and was recalled in 2010, making his playoff debut on April 15, 2010. In August 2010, Pettinger moved to Germany to play for Kölner Haie, later signing with the Hamburg Freezers in 2012 for a one-year deal. He also represented Canada at the World Junior Championships in 1999 (Winnipeg) and 2000 (Umeå).
