Edéia
Edéia is a municipality in south-central Goiás, Brazil, in the Vale do Rio dos Bois micro-region. It covers 1,466.3 square kilometers and sits about 601 meters above sea level. The population was 12,467 in 2020. The town operates in the BRT time zone (UTC-3), and its postal code is 75940-000.
Edéia is connected to Goiânia, the state capital, by BR-060 through Guapó, Cezarina, Indiara, and GO-320.
History: Edéia began around 1915 in the settlement called Povoado de Santo Antônio do Alegrete near the Turvo and Bois rivers, where a chapel to Saint Anthony was built. It was later named Alegrete, and in 1938 the name changed to Edéia. The first commercial house appeared in 1913. Edéia became an independent municipality in 1948, and electricity arrived in 1966.
