Martino Di Serio is an Italian chemist. He earned his degree in industrial chemistry (cum laude) from the University of Naples Federico II in 1988. From 1988 to 1990 he conducted research with industrial funding at the university’s Department of Chemistry. From 1990 to 1992 he was a temporary lecturer in industrial chemistry at the University of Salerno, and in 1993 he became a Researcher (Assistant Professor) there.

In 1995 he moved to the Chemistry Department of the University of Naples Federico II. He served as an associate professor of industrial chemistry from 2001 until June 2017. Since July 2017 he has been a full professor of industrial chemistry at the Department of Chemical Science, University of Naples Federico II. He leads the Naples Industrial Chemistry Laboratory (NICL) in the Department of Chemical Science.

NICL’s research focuses on industrial chemistry, with a recent emphasis on biofuel production and using renewable resources as raw materials for the chemical industry. The group has published extensively, including papers in international journals, conference proceedings, and patents.

Di Serio has coordinated the bachelor’s degree program in industrial chemistry and the master’s degree in science and technology of industrial chemistry at the University of Naples Federico II since 2013. He has been on the governing board of the Division of Industrial Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society since 2010. Since 2015, he has served as vice-chair of the Label Committee of Chemistry Quality Eurolabels.
