Marivirga lumbricoides is a Gram-negative, aerobic, rod-shaped and heterotrophic bacterium. It belongs to the genus Marivirga in the family Marivirgaceae, order Cytophagales, class Cytophagia, phylum Bacteroidota, within the domain Bacteria. It was isolated from seawater in the South China Sea and described in 2015 by Xu and colleagues. The binomial name is Marivirga lumbricoides. The type strains are CGMCC 1.10832, JCM 18012, and JLT2000.
