Marcela Medel
Marcela Medel, whose full name is Sonia Marcela Medel Fuentes, was born on December 13, 1957, in Santiago, Chile. She is a Chilean actress best known for her work in telenovelas.
She studied at Manuel de Salas High School in Ñuñoa and then at the Theater School of the University of Chile, where she trained with notable Chilean actors. She was part of the Teatro Itinerante group. Her television debut was in TVN’s telenovela Villa Los Aromos, where she acted alongside Luz Jiménez and Óscar Olavarría. Much of her career ran on Canal 13 from the 1980s to the mid-2000s, with memorable roles in Andrea, justicia de mujer; Ángel Malo; Semidiós; ¿Te conté?; Villa Napoli; Marrón Glacé; El palo al gato; Champaña; and Marrón Glacé, el regreso. She has worked with directors such as Óscar Rodríguez Gingins, Herval Rossano, and Herval Abreu.
In March 2025, Medel played Angustias in the audio series La casa de Bernarda Alba, a co-production by ChileActores, GestionArte, and the GAM Center, adapted and directed by Claudia Di Girolamo Quesney.
She is married to Chilean actor Samuel Villarroel, whom she met while filming La gran mentira in 1982. They have a daughter named Camila. Marcela is the sister of Eduardo Medel, who has six nephews and nieces.
