Mandy Sanghera

Mandy Sanghera is an international human rights activist who has worked since 1990 to help victims of honour-based violence and cultural abuse. She supports survivors of forced marriages, female genital mutilation (FGM), faith-based abuse, witchcraft accusations, incest, and other forms of cultural harm. She has contributed to documentaries on these topics and helped write guidelines on disability and honour-based violence for the UK’s Forced Marriage Unit.

Until 2018, she worked with the European Parliament on forced marriages, helping prepare a report from the EU member states. She has been involved in the Goddard Child Abuse Inquiry. Sanghera serves as an ambassador and adviser for several charities and groups, including Psychreg, and has helped more than 200 disabled adults who were forced into marriage. She has spoken about honour-based violence at the United States House of Representatives and worked on the “My Marriage My Choice” project at the University of Nottingham.
