Malesherbia tubulosa
Malesherbia tubulosa is a small shrub native to central Peru. It is locally known as Mullaca or Verónica. The plant can grow up to about 2 meters tall and has bright orange, evenly shaped flowers. It belongs to the Passifloraceae family, within the Malesherbia genus, and shows relatively high genetic diversity compared to other Malesherbia species. It serves as a host plant for the caterpillars of certain butterflies, such as Agraulis dodona. Malesherbia tubulosa is currently endangered due to habitat loss from urban expansion.
