Odostomia clessini
Odostomia clessini is a small sea snail in the family Pyramidellidae. Some sources treat it as a synonym of Odostomia tenuisculpta; Dall and Bartsch distinguished the two by the strength of the incised spiral lines on the early versus later whorls. The species was described in 1909.
The shell is elongate-ovate, yellowish-white, and about 6.5 mm long. The first few whorls are small and largely immersed in the next turn, with the edge of the last early whorl projecting a little. The next five or six post-nuclear whorls are tall between the sutures, with growth lines and fine, incised spiral lines. The sutures are well impressed. The periphery and base of the body whorl are well rounded, with similar markings. The aperture is ear-shaped, and the posterior angle is acute. The outer lip is thick inside and thin at the edge. The columella is stout and curved, reinforced by the base, and has a strong oblique fold where it inserts. The parietal wall is covered by a thin callus.
This species occurs in the Pacific Ocean off Alaska.
