Malcolm MacFarlane (Calum MacPhàrlain) (1853–1931) was a Scottish Gaelic scholar, songwriter, architect and land surveyor. He served as Secretary and President of the Gaelic Society of Glasgow and was active in An Comunn Gàidhealach. Born on 30 November 1853 at Kilmun Farm, Dalavich, Loch Awe, Scotland, he grew up near Paisley. His parents were John MacFarlane and Sarah MacIntyre. He worked as a measurer (an early form of quantity surveyor) and belonged to several societies, including the Inverness Gaelic Society, the Irish Texts Society and the Folk Song Society. He wrote The Phonetics of Gaelic and Songs of the Highlands (Inverness, 1902). He died unmarried on 22 February 1931 in Greenock, aged 77.
