Boyfriend (Big Time Rush song)
Boyfriend is a 2011 single by American pop band Big Time Rush from their debut album BTR. The song was written by Lucas Secon and Wayne Hector, produced by Secon, and features rap verses by Snoop Dogg. A version featuring the New Boyz was released later that year. It came out as the album’s second single on February 8, 2011, with radio release following on February 15, 2011.
Critics gave mixed reviews. Some called it catchy and fun, while others felt it was safe or unoriginal. Snoop Dogg’s guest verses were widely praised.
In the United States, the song peaked at number 72 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Big Time Rush’s highest-charting single at the time. It sold enough copies to earn a Platinum certification from the RIAA. The track also charted in several international markets and earned a Gold certification in New Zealand in 2024.
The music video imagines Snoop Dogg in a futuristic year 2099 inviting the band to a big party through a portal, with Big Time Rush performing in various scenes.
Musically, Boyfriend is a dance-pop/teen pop song with a catchy hook and a brisk tempo.
