Kekal discography
Kekal is an Indonesian band from Jakarta, formed in 1995. They have a long, varied discography and, even though there are no active members today, the group continues as an institution and still releases new material.
The early years saw an unofficial four‑song demo, followed by Contra Spiritualia Nequitae (1996) as new members joined. The self‑produced debut Beyond the Glimpse of Dreams appeared in 1998 and gained international attention, with Embrace the Dead in 1999 and The Painful Experience in 2001. Guitarist Leo Setiawan left in 2001, leaving Jeff Arwadi and Azhar Levi Sianturi as a duo. They released 1000 Thoughts of Violence in 2003, which led to a two‑week European tour in 2004. Acidity (2005) saw Leo return, and The Habit of Fire followed in 2006. Jeff later moved to Canada, so Kekal carried on as a studio project; The Habit of Fire was released in 2007 and was named CD of the Month by Sound on Sound. In 2008 Audible Minority was planned as a digital free download with 11 tracks, but the physical CD was never released and it ended up as a free download only. In 2009 all members left, but Kekal persisted as a legal entity. Former members helped complete the eighth studio album, 8, released in December 2010 and available in January 2011. A free digital EP Futuride appeared on July 10, 2011, and the ninth studio album Autonomy followed on December 19, 2012.
Kekal’s discography includes nine studio albums, two EPs, two compilation albums, two demo tapes, a split album with Slechtvalk, several collaborative contributions, five singles, two video albums, seven music videos, four collaborations, and seven sample tracks.
