Lutel James
Lutel Malik James (born 2 June 1972) is a former English footballer who played as a striker. He appeared in the English Football League for Scarborough and Bury and represented Saint Kitts and Nevis internationally.
James began his career with Selby Town and Yorkshire Amateurs before joining Scarborough in 1993, where he made six league appearances. He then played for Guiseley, Hyde United (85 games, 29 goals), and Accrington Stanley (142 games, 73 goals). He also had a short loan spell at Droylsden, with later spells at Altrincham, Garforth Town (on loan), and Bradford Park Avenue.
In October 1998 he signed for Bury on a £200-a-week deal but left in 2001 due to the club’s financial problems. He helped Accrington Stanley win promotion to the Conference and played in an FA Cup win over Huddersfield Town. He earned two caps for Saint Kitts and Nevis in 2000 during World Cup qualifiers; in 2004 he declined a national team call-up to focus on his club career.
After retiring, James coached at Farsley Celtic academy and, in June 2020, was appointed joint manager of Goole alongside Les Nelson. He has also worked off the pitch as CEO of Chapeltown Youth Development Centre in Leeds, and, as of 2022, he was a director at Yorkshire Amateur.
