Lukhdhirji Engineering College
Lukhdhirji Engineering College (LEC Morbi) is a government engineering college in Morbi district, Gujarat, India. It was established in 1951. The institute began as Morvi Technical Institute in 1931 and was upgraded to a degree college after Maharaja Lukhdhirji Waghji Sahib Bahadur donated his palace and 40 acres of land along the Machhu River. The college is named in his honor and is run by the Government of Gujarat, affiliated with Gujarat Technological University. The founding principal was Prof. Sunder Singh Bhatia, who was invited to upgrade MTI. The Nazarbag Palace was donated to become the campus, with other palaces used for student housing and the principal’s residence.
The campus is on the banks of the Machhu River in Morbi and is divided into old and new sections. It includes academic buildings, the administration block, a student amenities area, a badminton court and a swimming pool.
LEC Morbi has ten major departments. Siemens, in partnership with the Gujarat government, runs a Center of Excellence in Industrial Machinery on campus and offers certification courses such as PLC Scada, NX and NX Advance, and Induction Motor Training.
Student life features an active alumni association that hosts annual events, including a Gold Medal Award for top graduates. The college is part of the Rajkot NCC battalion, with cadets participating in state and national camps. A training and placement cell has been active since 1962. The college places strong emphasis on sports, with an Annual Sports Week and participation in university and national events; teams have earned honors in cricket, kabaddi and kho-kho.
