Atsuko Yamano

Atsuko Yamano (born February 22, 1964) is a Japanese musician from Osaka Prefecture. She is best known for being in the pop-punk band Shonen Knife. Yamano helped form the band in 1981 at age 17 with her sister Naoko Yamano and Michie Nakatani. She started on drums but switched to bass after Nakatani left in 1999. Yamano also designs the band’s stage outfits. She left Shonen Knife in 2006 to marry and moved to Los Angeles, and for several years she performed with the band only occasionally. She returned as a full member in 2016.
