Longmoor Bog

Longmoor Bog is a protected natural site in Berkshire, north of Finchampstead. It covers 14 hectares (35 acres), with about 11.8 hectares designated as a Local Nature Reserve. The site is part of California Country Park, owned and managed by Wokingham District Council. The landscape is mainly carr woodland (wet forest), with areas of wet heath and some mixed woodland. A small stream runs through the bog, the peat is more than a metre deep, and the ground is often mossy. The wet heath area is important for insects such as the bog bush cricket, silver-studded blue butterfly, emperor dragonfly, waved black moth, and wood ant.
