Apata Sadunu Ape Lokaya is a 2021 Sri Lankan Sinhala children’s adventure thriller directed by Lal Priyadeva and produced by Sunil T. Fernando for Sunil T. Films. The film stars child artist Pankaja Chandev, with Menaka Rajapakse, Nehara Peiris and Rajiv Nanayakkara. Kavitha Anjali, granddaughter of Baptist Fernando, makes her cinema debut in the movie. Filming began in 2019 in Deraniyagala, Galigamuwa, Navugala and Harigala. The premiere was held on 14 February 2021 at Liberty Cinema Hall in Kollupitiya. It was Sunil T’s 72nd production and was released in 72 cinemas across Sri Lanka. Plot: A young mother, father, child and their maid go to Polonnaruwa for a picnic; their vehicle crashes into a jungle, killing the parents and maid, and the boy escapes and grows up among animals. Controversy: The film faced accusations of using copyrighted material similar to Warner Bros./Netflix’s Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle, which the producers denied.
