Litorius was a Roman general who commanded forces in Gaul during the late Western Roman Empire. He served under Flavius Aetius from about 435 until his death in 439. He is known as the last Roman commander to perform pagan rites and consult the auspices before battle.

His battles were mainly against the Visigoths, who were trying to expand their power in Gaul. In 436, Visigoth king Theodoric I aimed to capture Narbo Martius (Narbonne) to reach the Mediterranean Sea and routes to the Pyrenees. At the Battle of Narbonne, Litorius, helped by the Huns, stopped the capture of the city and pushed the Visigoths back to their capital Tolosa (Toulouse). But in 439, at Tolosa, the combined Roman and Hun army was defeated by the Visigoths, and Litorius died from injuries he suffered in captivity after the battle.
