List of National Historic Landmarks in Mississippi

Mississippi has 40 National Historic Landmarks (NHLs). Five NHLs are also designated as State Historic Sites. In addition, National Park Service areas that overlap with NHLs are counted among Mississippi’s nationally important historic places.

NHLs are concentrated in 17 of the state’s 82 counties, with 13 NHLs located in Adams County. There have been no de-designations of Mississippi NHLs, but one NHL object was moved out of the state and subsequently delisted.

The National Park Service also lists five areas in Mississippi that are National Historic Parks, National Battlefields, or other protected sites of national importance established before the NHL program began in 1960. These five areas are listed together with the NHLs.

There is a cross-reference list of the seven State Historic Sites, which uses different names for some sites.
