Lip Service, also known as Out of Sync, is a 2000 Canadian–American musical comedy-drama directed by Graeme Campbell. It premiered on VH1 on July 12, 2000, and features original music in a story that mirrors lip‑synching scandals like Milli Vanilli.

Plot
The film follows a music industry scheme built around lip-synching. Desperate producer Roger Deacon and his partner Buddo test several women in the studio, but none prove suitable. Sunni, a pretty but not very talented young redhead, is chosen to lip-sync the songs for public performance. Maggie Stanley, a housewife who longs to be a singer, works with her son Josh and husband Stan and records songs in Deacon’s studio. Maggie discovers that Sunni will be lip-synchronizing the performances and is furious when she learns Sunni is being used for publicity, not real singing.

A web of manipulation soon emerges. Deacon and his associate Levitt arrange to steal Maggie’s recordings and have Sunni perform them live, damaging Maggie’s chance to be heard. The tension culminates at Sunni’s concert, where Deacon and Buddo are confronted with the truth. Sunni’s lip-syncing is exposed, and Maggie reveals that she is the real voice behind the songs. Maggie begins to sing publicly, sometimes with Josh, as the film satirizes the music industry’s obsession with image over talent.

Phil Gallo of Variety criticized it as a mindless, cliché‑laden comedy that merely trotted through soap‑opera and music‑industry tropes.
