34th Territorial Defense Battalion

The 34th Territorial Defense Battalion is a unit of Ukraine’s Territorial Defense Forces. It was formed in June 2014 mainly from volunteers of the “Resistance movement” (about 70%) and is based in Kirovohrad Oblast. The battalion has fought in the war in Donbas and, as of 2022, was operating in Bakhmut as part of the 57th Brigade during Russia’s invasion. It claims to have its own military intelligence and special operations forces. On August 1, 2014, the battalion claimed it had destroyed the Prizrak Battalion of the Luhansk People’s Republic, but that claim was false; Prizrak later fought in Debaltseve. The unit has been active since 2014.
