Linden is a town in Iowa County, Wisconsin. The Village of Linden and the unincorporated community of Edmund are located within the town. It covers 60.7 square miles, all land.

As of the 2000 census, 873 people lived there in 295 households and 212 families. The population density was 14.4 people per square mile. There were 311 housing units.

The racial makeup was about 99.1% White, with small numbers of Black or African American, Asian, and people of two or more races; 0.11% were Hispanic or Latino.

Households included 35.3% with children under 18; 62.0% were married couples; 6.8% had a female householder with no husband present; 27.8% were non-families. Individuals made up 22.4% of all households, and 7.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.70 and the average family size was 3.18.

The population distribution was: 26.0% under 18, 5.6% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 18.7% 65 or older. The median age was 40. For every 100 females, there were 102.6 males; for every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.6 males.

Income saw the following medians: household $36,726; family $40,139. Males earned $26,111 versus $22,237 for females. The per capita income was $15,446. About 12.3% of families and 13.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.1% of those under 18 and 11.3% of those 65 or over.
