Overview
The Ferrari F355 is a mid‑engine V8 sports car built in Maranello, Italy. It was a major upgrade over the 348, focusing on more power and better drivability, and it led to the even newer Ferrari 360 in 1999.
Engine and performance
- 3.5‑liter V8 with a 5‑valve-per-cylinder head
- About 375 horsepower (around 279 kW) at 8,250 rpm
- 6‑speed manual in early models; in 1997 an electrohydraulic F1 automated manual with paddle shifting was introduced
- Dry-sump lubrication and lightweight internals (including titanium connecting rods)
Body and chassis
- Steel monocoque chassis with a rear sub‑frame
- Independent, unequal‑length wishbone suspension; two damper settings: Comfort and Sport
- Aerodynamics refined through wind tunnel testing
- Offered as Berlinetta (coupe), Spider (convertible, 1995), and GTS (targa, 1995)

The F355 is remembered for its striking looks, improved performance, and the shift to paddle‑shift driving while keeping a simple, engaging manual option. It was replaced by the Ferrari 360 in 1999.
