Kingdom of Nepal (1768–2008) introduced its first legislature in 1948. In 1947, Rana Prime Minister Padma Shumsher Jang Bahadur Rana formed a Constitution Reform Committee to draft Nepal’s first constitution. The Government of Nepal Act, 1948 was passed in 1948, but its promulgation was suspended by Mohan Shumsher Jang Bahadur Rana. In 1950, he again promulgated the Government of Nepal Act, 1948, which he had suspended in 1948.
