Teynham railway station
Teynham railway station serves the village of Teynham in Kent. It is on the Chatham Main Line, about 77 km (47 miles) from London Victoria, between Sittingbourne and Faversham. The station has two platforms and is managed by Southeastern. The station code is TEY and it is a DfT category E station.
History:
- Opened on 25 January 1858 with the East Kent Railway line.
- The original two-storey brick building was demolished in the 1970s and replaced with prefabricated buildings.
- A manual crossing near Station Row was replaced by automatic gates in December 2011.
Operations:
- All trains calling at Teynham are operated by Southeastern using Class 375 EMUs.
Facilities:
- A staffed booking office on the London-bound platform is open Monday to Friday 06:30–09:30. Outside those hours the station is unstaffed.
- Tickets can be bought from a Ticket Vending Machine Lite (card payments only). Cash payments should be made on the train or at the next staffed office.
Services:
- The typical off-peak service is operated by Southeastern trains.
- In peak times there are additional trains to and from London Bridge and London Cannon Street.
- Some London-to-Dartford journeys can be taken via Sidcup or via Bexleyheath.
