Laurin Heinrich
Laurin Heinrich is a German racing driver born on 26 September 2001 in Kürnach, Germany. He started karting at eight and moved into car racing in 2017 with his family’s team, Heinrich Motorsport, in ADAC Formula 4.
He progressed into Porsche racing in 2019, winning the 5E class of the Porsche Sports Cup Germany. He debuted in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany in 2020, earning the Rookie title and several podiums. In 2021 he raced in both the Porsche Supercup (winning at Zandvoort) and the Carrera Cup Germany (winning at least twice and finishing high in the standings). In 2022 he became a Porsche Junior, won in the Supercup at Silverstone, and dominated the Carrera Cup Germany with six wins, clinching the title before the end of the season. He also appeared in the Carrera Cup North America at the end of 2022.
In 2023 Heinrich moved to the DTM with KÜS Team Bernhard, achieving podiums and a pole position in Austria, while also racing in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup with Rutronik Racing and making a one-off appearance in the Zandvoort Sprint Cup.
In 2024 he moved to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with AO Racing, competing in the GTD Pro class alongside Sebastian Priaulx. He finished runner-up at Daytona, won at Laguna Seca, Detroit, and Indianapolis, and earned the championship by a small margin after the final race at Road Atlanta, helped by a pole position in that event. His 2024 campaign also included entries in other GT series, and he was named DailySportscar’s GT Driver of the Year and listed in Autosport’s Top 50 drivers of 2024.
In 2025 Heinrich defended the GTD Pro title with Klaus Bachler, scoring class wins including at Sebring and Laguna Seca. He also tested the Porsche 963 and began racing in the World Endurance Championship, with plans to become a Porsche factory driver. Ahead of 2026, he was added to Porsche’s factory driver roster and to Porsche Penske Motorsport’s GTP lineup, focusing on endurance racing while continuing his versatile schedule in other series and sim racing.
