The Düsseldorf–Solingen railway is a 19-kilometre, double-track, electrified line in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is used by the S1 line of the Rhine-Ruhr S-Bahn and by the RegioExpress RE47, operated by Regiobahn. The route runs from Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof to Solingen Hauptbahnhof.

History highlights: The Düsseldorf Hbf–Düsseldorf-Eller section opened on 1 October 1891. The Eller–Hilden portion originally used the Troisdorf–Mülheim-Speldorf line (opened 18 November 1874), with separate tracks added in 1917. The Hilden–Ohligs (Solingen) section opened on 3 January 1894. S-Bahn service began to Düsseldorf Airport Terminal on 27 October 1975 (initially branded S7). On 13 December 2009, S7 was discontinued and the Düsseldorf–Solingen line was taken over by an extended S1 from Düsseldorf Hbf. Trains run about every 20 minutes using coupled sets of four-car Class 422 electric trains.

Future plans include electrifying the Wuppertal-Oberbarmen–Solingen line and extending service to Remscheid and Wuppertal.

Operations and fares: The entire line is in the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) area, which sets service levels and fares.
