Laton is a small census-designated place in Fresno County, California. It sits about 23 miles south-southeast of Fresno at an elevation of 259 feet. The area covers roughly 2.5 square miles, all land.

As of the 2020 census, Laton had 1,967 residents, up from 1,824 in 2010. Laton’s post office opened in 1900 and was named after Charles A. Laton, who owned land in the area. The community appeared as an unincorporated place in 1960 and became a census-designated place in 1980.

In 2010, Laton had 474 households and 403 families. The average household size was 3.85 and the average family size was 4.12. The population was largely Hispanic or Latino (about 76%), with White residents making up about 55% and people from other races about 41%.
