Las Cheris

Las Cheris were a Puerto Rican girl group from the early 1980s through the 1990s. The four members were aged 16 to 25, and the group was managed by Juan Rivera Muriente.

After Menudo’s worldwide success, many Latin American acts, especially in Puerto Rico, tried to replicate that fame, including girl groups. Las Cheris were sometimes described as the “female version of Menudo,” along with groups like Fresitas and Monedas.

They were popular on Puerto Rican radio and TV from 1983 to 1990, but eventually faded from the spotlight. One member, Melina León, later found international success as a merengue singer. Another member, Mariadony Class, is the daughter of Puerto Rican singer José Miguel Class.
