John Elwood "Waddy" Davis (September 18, 1892 – January 9, 1974) was an American college football player and coach, and a college baseball coach. A graduate of the University of Iowa, he played halfback for the Iowa Hawkeyes from 1915 to 1917 and served as team captain. He coached high school football in Iowa from 1917 to 1919. In 1920, Davis was the eighth head football coach at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas, finishing the season with a record of 0–1–2. He later coached the backfield at Washington University around 1929 and served as an Iowa assistant coach around 1937. Davis also coached Iowa’s baseball team from 1943 to 1945, posting a 15–15 record. He died January 9, 1974, in Iowa City, Iowa.
