Mario (1984 film)
Mario is a 1984 Canadian drama film directed by Jean Beaudin. Set on the Magdalen Islands in Quebec, the story follows Mario, a 10-year-old boy who is mute and autistic, and his 18-year-old brother Simon. When Simon begins a romance with a woman, their close bond becomes strained. With their parents busy during the island’s tourist season, Mario is left without his brother. Based on Claude Jasmin’s La Sablière, the film was produced by the National Film Board of Canada and is in French. It was released on August 22, 1984 and runs 98 minutes.
