Lamentis is the third episode of Loki’s first season. Loki and the female variant Sylvie escape the Time Variance Authority (TVA) but crash-land on Lamentis-1, a moon that is about to be destroyed when a nearby planet passes by. With their TemPad almost out of power, they must work together to survive and find a way off the doomed world.

Their plan is to reach the ark, an evacuation spaceship, to recharge the TemPad. Loki hides the TemPad and Sylvie uses her knowledge to recharge it. They ride a train toward the ark, gradually starting to trust each other and share pasts. Loki gets drunk, drawing attention and a fight with guards. The TemPad is found to be broken, so the couple abandons the plan and decides to travel on foot to the ark instead.

Along the way, Sylvie tells Loki that TVA workers are actually variants. Loki realizes this is true too, which challenges what he had been told. The duo also share a moment about love; on the train they discuss their lives and bisexuality, a moment shown with careful care by the creators.

Their escape plan fails when a meteor shower hits and the ark is destroyed, leaving Loki and Sylvie stranded on the moon as it begins to fall apart.

The episode was directed by Kate Herron and written by Bisha K. Ali. It stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, with Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Sasha Lane in supporting roles. Music in the episode includes songs like “Demons” by Hayley Kiyoko and “Dark Moon” by Bonnie Guitar, and a traditional Asgardian drinking song was composed for the scene.

Lamentis received praise for the dynamic between Loki and Sylvie, with many critics noting its Doctor Who–like vibes and its character focus. The bisexual moment for Loki was a major talking point. The episode ends on a cliffhanger as the ark is destroyed and the two are stranded, setting up the next part of their journey. It premiered on Disney+ on June 23, 2021.
